Things that impressed me and bothered me in Denmark
Hello dreamers, a lot of exciting things have happened to me recently. One of the most interesting was the challenge with my family to move to Denmark. The first thing I thought was- WOW, THIS IS AWESOME, SUPER, OF COURSE! ...The truth is that I was VERY excited and still am, remembering my experiences.
I'm always up for something new. I have been here for five whole months and yet I have many Danish friends and a lot of information about the small Scandinavian country. Today I'm going to share some funny and weird things that shocked me at first.
1 GOING OUT ON YOUR TERRACE NAKED, completely naked [literally] even without underwear is something normal. The Danes have no qualms about their bodies and nudity. Believe me, I was very surprised, but in time I had to accept it if I wanted to integrate successfully.
2 KILLING ANIMALS AND DISCOVERING ORGANS is also typical. I've come across little kids killing chickens at school with their bare hands.
3. For some countries this may be usual, but exactly for Eastern Europe, bathing after sports is NOT... In the first months, I was quite worried about bathing after exercise in communal bathrooms.
4. Mothers can leave their babies in front of restaurants WITH NO PROBLEM. Parents come in to have lunch, and babies sleep undisturbed in the fresh air in front of the establishment. In Eastern Europe, we would worry about the safety of our babies, but Denmark is famous as the most peaceful country, only 4% crime rate.
5 Students can talk to the teacher personally, addressing him by his first name.
